Bumaye Dance Team at University of Maryland Baltimore County.
Bumaye Dance Team is an African Dance Team at the University of Maryland Baltimore County. Starting as a branch off of the campuses African Student Association (ASA) it has evolved into its own entity by promoting self-expression, teamwork, and dedication. Our mission is to grow as dancers and as a team and to showcase our talent to reach as many people as possible. As a team made up of young women and men we represent the African diaspora through dance and try to connect with the culture and audience as well as represent UMBC and ASA.
Bumaye Dance Team found importance in having pride in being African and representation in the arts. They encourage you to bring people of other races to experience our amazing culture together. They want to prevent people from not limiting their mindset and views. Bumaye’s primary goal is to foster a sense of strong community and unity amongst students of African origin on the UMBC campus. ASA Spring Showcase is to introduce plays, music, fashion, modeling, dance to share & expand African Culture.
